Choku Rei indicates strength, power, action. It shows energy with a direction and motive. It is used to support all other Reiki instruments (creative visualization, positive verbalization, recall, other symbols – from Usui’s Reiki, Karuna Reiki or one’s own). 
Choku Rei means: “by the emperor’s command”, that is to say “what must be, shall be”. The symbol literally translates as “place the power of the universe here”. When drawing this symbol, the request that you are sending out to the universe is for more energy to be brought in.
For that reason, the Choku Rei is often referred to as the power symbol, as it brings a powerful stream of extra universal energy to wherever it is required, and therefore helps to create a more powerful healing. If one suffers from illness the symbol is most useful for it brings in a new energy and power essentially speeding the healing proccess of the patient. However, it can also be used in a more focused way such as when there are old emotions and energies that need to be cleared. It is also a great way to clear the energy of a space as it purifies and disperses any darker or negative energy.
